DIVERCITIES Website Redevelopment

As the DIVERCITIES research project approached the halfway mark it became apparent that the website needed attention. One of my initial tasks for DIVERCITES was to redevelop their site. As part of the redevelopment I introduced a responsive design, started a blog, created information rich case study pages for each of the 14 cities, updated and maintained SEO and provided an archive for the project’s dissemination activities. I undertook all aspects, from design through to content management and production providing a fresh new look for the EU-funded project. The site also houses a subsite for the Governing Urban Diversity Conference complete with program information and links to various activities associated with the conference.

To provide the DIVERCITIES research project with a fresh new look including information rich pages for each case study (fourteen cities in Europe, the United Kingdom, Turkey and Canada) and a new blog to communicate findings with a greater focus on imagery. A vibrant and professional portal that effectively showcases the project with a clear navigation system that puts a vast array of information in easy reach. The contemporary design coupled with the use of white space places focus on content with imagery adding dynamic colour.

Restructure

The first task was to completely rethink the structure and to consider how existing and new content could be presented in a logical and dynamic way. Responsiveness, greater emphasis on visuals and improved case study pages were seen as key to ensuring a user-friendly site.

Communicating Research

With a conference approaching and a range of publications in progress it was time to add a blog to the DIVERCITIES online presence. Blogs a great way to communicate findings, build audience and provide valid and useful information for readers. I instigated the blog for DIVERCITIES coordinating all content. I wrote, produced and edited posts working in collaboration with partners internationally.
